March 22nd, 2018.- The eliminatory, semifinal and final rounds of the 2018 Alhambra Competition will be held on May 29th, 30th, 31th and June 1st and will be held at José Roca hall at José Iturbi Municipal Conservatory of Valencia (Avenida de Baleares No. 36).
The Closing Ceremony and awards ceremony will be held on June 2nd at Rodrigo hall at Palau de la Música in Valencia (Paseo de la Alameda nº 30).
International Guitar Competition Alhambra since 1990
The Alhambra International Guitar Competition enjoys worldwide prestige thanks to the importance of its awards, the quality of the contestants and the subsequent promotion of the finalists.
Since 1990, Alhambra Guitars has worked constantly for the International Competition which has its name. A meeting point for the Spanish guitar, to which hundreds of young guitarists have come for almost three decades.
Guitarists who are now part of the world elite of classical guitar and who transmit the values and virtues of the instrument of the six orders.
Important cash prizes, promotion and training
The prizes of this competition are an important factor that contributes to the participation of contestants of the highest level.
Guitarists of different nationalities will come to Spain to be winners of the 2018 Alhambra Competition.
The first prize, called the Alhambra International Guitar Prize, consists of 14,000 euros in cash, the recording of a CD for the Naxos record label. In addition, sponsored by Manufacturas Alhambra, a concert with a fee of 1,000 euros and an exclusive agreement of artistic diffusion.
The second prize amounts to 4,000 euros in cash along with a scholarship to attend as an active student to the Master of Guitar of Alicante 2019.
The third prize amounts to 2,500 euros in cash and the finalist will obtain a diploma
In addition you can opt for the special prize of the public, amounting to 1,000 euros and the Alhambra Prize for New Spanish Musical Creation, worth 3,000 euros, if the commissioned work is performed in the final round.
Alhambra Collection of Contemporary Spanish Music for Guitar
If the contestant wants to opt for the Alhambra Prize for New Spanish Musical Creation, he/she will have to perform the work El reloj de Teresa, by composer Juan de Dios García Aguilera.
This new commissioned work is joined to those made in previous editions increasing the Alhambra Collection of Contemporary Spanish Music for Guitar.
A collection associated with the Alhambra Competition, edited by Editorial Piles and created several years ago with the aim of becoming an international benchmark for musical quality. A universal reference where the names of the best Spanish composers are being joined along the best guitarists.
Since the beginning of the collection, the titles of the composers have been presented: José Manuel López López, David del Puerto and Emilio Calandín.
