Family with Flamenco tradition
He was born in Cartagena, Murcia, Carlos is the youngest of a family with an important flamenco tradition, along with his brothers, the guitarist Pepe Piñana and the singer Curro Piñana.
The tradition began with his grandfather, Antonio Piñana, singer and winner of the first Cante de las Minas contest in the sixties, and continued with the renowned guitarist Antonio Piñana, Carlos’ father.
Formal background and recognition
From an early age, Carlos Piñana has absorbed the learning of flamenco, a discipline that combined with the study of classical guitar in the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena between 1988 and 1998.
Since he starts his professional activity with the flamenco guitar in 1995, Carlos has stood out as a firm promise of the flamenco guitar.

In addition, he has collaborated in two discs with his brother Curro Piñana, concretely in ""De lo humano y lo divino" y en "Cal·librí”

Collaboration with Alhambra guitars
Carlos Piñana plays with an Alhambra flamenco guitar Mengual and Margarit model, made of solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, an instrument which has been specially adapted with a special design of the headstock.
Furthermore, the design of the headstock is the same of the 10 Fp Piñana model, a development that along with the model 5 Fp Piñana, has been realized in collaboration with this guitarist.
The main characteristics of these models are: solid India Rosewood for back and sides and solid cedar for the top. The finish on 10 Fp Piñana is matt while on the 5 Fp OP Piñana is open pore.
