Javier Mengual began working at Alhambra in August 1972 at the age of 16. He adapted quickly, and his curiosity about the different construction processes soon led him to become highly specialized in the company's various sections: sawmilling, varnishing, sanding, and polishing.

In 1988, our luthier José María Vilaplana was looking for someone to help him in his workshop. It was at that time that Javier Mengual began to learn the entire process of building his guitars, which is achieved through the most rigorous selection of high-quality materials, artisanal precision, and the constant pursuit of the best sound.

More than 50 years have passed, and his experience and knowledge have evolved, nurturing the expertise of hundreds of guitarists. Now, Maestro Javier Mengual leads a team of experienced luthiers who combine unparalleled craftsmanship and constant innovation, consolidating us as a benchmark in the creation of high-end guitars.

True to Spanish tradition, Javier uses only fine woods in his creations and is constantly researching to achieve maximum comfort and sound in his guitars.

Javier's latest creation is DESEADA , a guitar handcrafted by master luthier Javier Mengual, as a tribute to his wife and into which he has poured all his extensive experience in guitar building.

For the development of this Signature model, Alhambra had the collaboration of the guitarist Joaquín Clerch, who advised Javier Mengual with the aim of achieving a guitar with a soft, melodic and powerful sound , a balanced and very light guitar, with high comfort , and in this way DESEADA was created, a guitar with a remarkable sound level, with great projection and long sustain , and offering a harmonic, very balanced sound of great lyrical beauty.
