LUIS GUEVARA
Luis Guevara was born in Santiago de Chile and studied guitar at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile with Ernesto Quezada. During this period he attended master classes with maestros José Antonio Escobar, Carlos Pérez, Leo Brouwer, Ricardo Gallén, Hopkinson Smith and Marcin Dylla.
He has developed an intense national career performing in important concert halls in Chile and abroad, as a soloist and with orchestras. He has also won numerous competitions, including the La Paz Guitar Competition (Bolivia), the Guitarra sin Fronteras International Competition (Chile), the Carlos Pimentel Competition (Chile), the Homenaje International Guitar Competition (Chile), the FIGS Santiago Guitar Competition (Chile) and the Miguel Llobet International Classical Guitar Competition in Barcelona (Spain). He has also won prizes in competitions such as the Julián Arcas Guitar Competition, the Andrés Segovia International Competition and the Guerrero Foundation International Competition.
Luis Guevara has been teaching at university since he was very young: in 2012 he was already assistant to Ernesto Quezada's guitar chair, and in 2016 he took over the chair. Considered one of the most outstanding performers of classical guitar in Chile, in 2019 he released his first solo album, entitled Imbricatta, which contains compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Paco de Lucía and Sergio Assad, among others.
As a cultural manager he is very active in promoting the guitar in Chile, carrying out streaming broadcasts with Chilean guitarists from the studios of GUITARRA EN OTRA DIMENSIÓN, as well as developing concerts in La Bandera and other cultural and social projects.
