Flamenco ist eine universelle Kunst, die keine Grenzen kennt – und die Karriere von Gonzalo Franco ist der unwiderlegbare Beweis dafür. Der in Montevideo (Uruguay) geborene Gitarrist und Komponist hat sich als eine der wichtigsten Persönlichkeiten der Flamencogitarre in Südamerika etabliert. Mit seinem Virtuosität und der Reinheit seines Klangs begeistert er das Publikum auf Bühnen in aller Welt.

Dieses Meisterwerk der Gitarrenbaukunst, gefertigt aus exquisiten Edelholzauswahlen und geprägt von der typischen, echten Flamenco-Perkussivität, ist sowohl im Tonstudio als auch auf der Bühne zum unzertrennlichen Begleiter des Künstlers geworden.

Eine internationale Laufbahn auf höchstem Niveau

Im Laufe seiner Karriere hat Gonzalo Franco die Kunst des Toque flamenco auf Bühnen in Spanien, der Tschechischen Republik, der Schweiz, Deutschland, Australien, Argentinien, Brasilien und Uruguay gebracht. Seine intensive Tätigkeit als Konzert- und Studiomusiker verbindet er mit der Lehre: Er unterrichtet Flamencogitarre im renommierten Flamenco-Kunstzentrum La Plazuela in Montevideo.

Als absoluter Pionier in seinem Land war er der erste uruguayische Musiker, der ein Album mit Flamencogitarrenmusik veröffentlichte. Er hat zwei Alben mit Originalkompositionen herausgebracht: „Libre“ und „In Pulso“ – zwei Schlüsselwerke zum Verständnis der Entwicklung dieses Genres in der Region.

Auf der Bühne mit den Legenden des Genres

Das Ausnahmetalent von Gonzalo Franco hat ihn mit einigen der legendärsten Persönlichkeiten des Flamenco und des internationalen Jazz zusammengeführt:

  • Tomatito: Er hatte die Ehre, die Konzerte des Meisters aus Almería bei dessen Auftritten 2012 und 2015 in Montevideo zu eröffnen und gemeinsam mit ihm auf der Bühne zu stehen.
  • Jorge Pardo: Beim Abschlusskonzert des Jazzfestivals in Montevideo im Jahr 2013 begleitete er den berühmten spanischen Flötisten und Saxofonisten als Gitarrist.
  • Größen des Flamencotanzes: Sein Gitarrenspiel hat den Rhythmus für herausragende Persönlichkeiten des Baile flamenco wie Francisco Hidalgo „El Torombo“, Carmen Ledesma, David Morales und Carmen Talegona vorgegeben.

Darüber hinaus hat seine Alhambra-Gitarre in zahlreichen Audioproduktionen, Theaterstücken und Alben-Kooperationen mit bekannten uruguayischen Künstlern ihre Spuren hinterlassen.
