Puerto Rican guitarist and composer Hermelindo Ruiz is one of the most prominent international figures in Latin American classical guitar. Having performed in over 21 countries, Ruiz has been commissioned by prestigious cultural organizations across the Americas, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
His recent achievements include premieres and commissions for the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) in New York City, the Adelaide Guitar Festival in Australia, the chamber series of The Cleveland Orchestra, the Echoes Festival in London, and the Ankara Guitar Festival in Turkey, alongside a solo recital tour across Japan and South Korea.
Academic Pedigree, Composition Masters, and Publications
Ruiz studied composition personally under classical guitar icons Leo Brouwer and Roland Dyens. His academic background includes a Master’s Degree in Music from prestigious Yale University (Connecticut, USA). To date, he has released three studio albums and authored four published books of musical scores for classical guitar.
