With Atlas, Jason Del Campo reinterprets the classical guitar into a new dimension and reveals a personal roadmap expressed through twelve instrumental pieces where the infinitely small meets the infinitely vast. At the crossroads of neoclassical and post-minimalist styles, halfway between Nils Frahm and Steve Reich, the guitarist of Spanish origin constructs a sensitive universe of subtle emotional nuances, delicate arpeggios, and natural textures.
Coming from a family of artisans, Jason Del Campo feels a natural inclination to explore sound and sculpt it in a slow, patient manner, until allowing that which beats, breathes, and lives within it to emerge. Attentive to the murmur of matter and its grain, he allows us to perceive the slide of a finger across the wood, the fingernail grazing a string, or the friction of the body against the soundboard: everything that shapes the deeply physical and almost intimate relationship between the musician and his instrument. In doing so, he invites us to listen to the melody at the exact moment of its birth and to (re)discover, in an environment stripped of the superfluous, the miracle of emotion: that fluid transmission from soul to soul.
His work extends to film as the composer of the soundtrack for Atlantic Bar (Fanny Molins, Cannes Film Festival 2022 – César Awards 2024), to theater with the music for Albert Camus's Les Justes (directed by Maxime d’Aboville, Molière Awards 2015 and 2022) and Donny – 2026 (directed by Salomé Villiers, Molière Awards 2022), and to dance with BirdsLand, alongside German choreographer Nadine Gerspacher.
