SERENADE DUO (USA)

Founded in 1988, Serenade Duo, featuring Michelle LaPorte, flutist, and Gerry Saulter, guitarist, performs wonderful music throughout the world. The multi-award-winning Serenade Duo is an international chamber music ensemble that performs wonderful concert music with a warm presence and superb interpretations of a unique repertoire. A five-time recipient of the International Chamber Music Artists Award, the Duo has performed concerts at Carnegie Hall and Merkin Concert Hall in New York City. In addition, Serenade Duo tours extensively throughout Europe and America, both as performers and educators. Serenade Duo consider themselves advocates of chamber music around the world and collaborate with many different labels through concerts and recordings. Among others, they collaborate with Alhambra Guitars, D'™Addario Strings, Fishman Music and Centaur Records. Classical Guitar Magazine Last May 2018, the Serenade Duo group released their latest work called "Siempre Vivo!" A CD made up of South American songs, preludes and dances. The reviews of this guitar and flute duo on this latest work have been very positive. To the special opinion collected in the American Record guide, is added that of "Classical Guitar Magazine". In its winter 2018 edition, the prestigious magazine has made an interesting review of the latest CD of the Serenade Duo group where it says the following: "A gentle journey through South America". Here we have a good recording that can well be filed under the qualification of "delicious". The Americans Michelle LaPorte and Gerry Saulter perform together as Serenade Duo. The combination of flute and guitar tends to combine like coffee and cream... "¦ Sometimes it is gratifying to appreciate a recording that takes you on a gentle ride rather than a tense one, and “Siempre Vivo!” is just that. (TP) Gerry Saulter plays Alhambra Mengual & Margarit C Series Professional Line guitars with RC Strings. These are the most perfect guitars to me in every way. As always the workmanship is impeccable, and the playability is effortless. Most importantly, (to my ears) it results in a classic “Spanish” sound, but with a quicker attack and response. His ability to create such dynamic guitars without the use of composite materials, is a testament to his talent. Not only does it have a powerful sound, but it has the color that so many composite double tops don’t have. I have been called Maestro by students and the public, and I am never comfortable with that title. I don’t think Mr. Mengual would be comfortable with that title, but it is the only word that comes to mind when I play these guitars, which were built by a “Master” Luthier.
