Playing guitar online: artists who rose to fame thanks to YouTube
It's well known that achieving fame in the musical world has never been an easy task, at least for most people. However, the advancement of the Internet, the ability to listen to guitar online, and, above all, the popularization of YouTube, has facilitated direct contact between artist and audience, with the possibility of reaching a virtually unlimited number of viewers in a short time and with limited resources. Today, many have already made it in this world simply with an instrument and their voice. The online guitar, in its Spanish version, is one of the most frequently used instruments by those who have taken the Internet by storm, although not the only one. The most famous case is perhaps that of Justin Bieber, whose videos were accidentally discovered by a record executive who quickly contacted him. The rest of the story is well known. Another musician who rose to stardom thanks to YouTube was Cody Simpson, a young Australian guitarist who played covers of famous artists in his bedroom. His videos went viral until they caught the attention of producer Shawn Campbell. Other notables include Charice Pempengco, with more than 15 million albums sold, and guitar virtuosos like Charlie Parra and Igor Presnyakov. Other notables include Nick Pitera, who sings Disney songs with surprising versatility. The list is endless.
In Spain, musicians are well-known, but their origins are not. For example, Xuso Jones, who found success thanks to a video posted at a fast-food stand, or Pablo Alborán, who had been playing and singing since childhood but found success thanks to YouTube and the ability to hear his guitar online. In any case, they all prove that today, more than ever, talent and effort are rewarded.
