Studies have shown that a man is more attractive with a guitar. Professor Nicolas Guéguen, from the French University of Bretagne-Sud, wanted to test whether carrying a guitar could help a man attract more women. To do so, he hired a 20-year-old young man tasked with approaching 300 women.
When he approached the first 100, he carried a sports gym bag; for the next 100, a guitar case; and for the last 100, nothing at all. The results were astounding: from the first group, 9 gave him their phone number; from the second, 31; and from the last group, 14. Another study was published in Letters on Evolutionary Behavioral Science in 2012. It was conducted via Facebook by creating two profiles for the exact same man.
In one photo, he appeared with a guitar, and in the other, without one. A group of 100 young, single female students was selected, and a simple message was sent to them: "Hi, how are you? I like your photo." 28% accepted the man with the guitar, compared to just 10% for the man without it.
