SABINA GUITAR: The Creation of a Musical Masterpiece

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER (1985)

Alhambra guitars have been faithful companions throughout Sabina's prolific musical career. Every strum, every chord, has contributed to forging his legacy. They are loyal accomplices who have traveled untold distances. Narrow rosewood CTW guitars, like the 5P CT, or cypress, like the 7F CT, have been integral parts of his artistic journey. The 5P CT continues to resonate with the same power since 2000, when it fell into the hands of the musical genius.

WITH YOU (1996)

At the end of 2022, we were able to contact Joaquin's team to inform them that Alhambra Guitarras would like to create a custom-made instrument for the maestro as a tribute to his career. Our luthier, Javier Mengual, together with Sabina's technical team, developed a lighter guitar, incorporating details throughout the design that recalled the musical maestro's entire career playing with Alhambra. For example, the design of the headstock of the new guitar is a tribute to his legendary guitar, the 5P CT, in honor of his faithful traveling companion.

AND IT WAS TEN O'CLOCK (1992)

Our lutherie team, led by Javier Mengual, worked tirelessly to create a personal and exclusive instrument for Sabina:

• The idea was conceived to incorporate his iconic bowler hat in marquetry and rosette, creating a contrast between the black and white. The bowler hat was also integrated into the junction of the rings.

• A nod to his beloved club, Atlético de Madrid, was sought in the profiles, playing with the red and white tones, also present in the bridge and trim.

• Nothing more personal than the artist's signature on the back, laser-engraved and treated with ebony powder and rosewood for a darker tone.

• Hand-signed by the master luthier on the inside label. Two guitars were developed for the occasion, to find two distinct timbres for Sabina to choose from. Both were designed with the same motifs, but the back and sides were made with different woods: one was cocobolo and the other was Spanish cypress.

LET'S SAY I'M TALKING ABOUT... (1980)

Let's delve into the guitar's features. With top-quality finishes and the finest woods selected from the ground up, this Alhambra guitar features Spanish cypress back and sides, in keeping with the artist's roots. The neck is made of Honduran cedar and the fingerboard is made of white ebony, striving for maximum sustainability through this fine wood.

THIS IS HOW I AM WITHOUT YOU (1987)

The Alhambra guitar ended up in Sabina's hands, and in her childlike gaze, we saw that our instrument would become her new traveling companion.

AGAINST ALL ODDS (2023)

We've had the pleasure of enjoying his music again on stages around the world during the amazing 2023 tour. Seeing Sabina with his new Alhambra is our greatest gift. Thank you, maestro!
