The best songs of the Transition to the Spanish guitar

As expected, the Spanish guitar played a fundamental role in the most prominent songs, the instrument of choice for accompanying all these proclamations. There are many songs we could highlight, but we've chosen to focus on the guitar in the songs of the Transition: - "Speak, people speak": the Murcia group Vino Tinto released this song in 1976. The song invited the people to break the silence after so many years and is considered an anthem of the Transition, as it was used by the UCD (United Leftist Party) to promote the party in the first democratic elections after the death of dictator Franco. - "Freedom without anger": Jarcha popularized another of the great anthems of the 1970s. This famous song is a staple in guitar music repertoires due to the emotion it evokes when played. - "Al alba": Aute is a must-have on a list of important guitars in the anthems of the Transition. In this song, the singer-songwriter demonstrates his skill playing the Spanish guitar. - Song to Freedom: Guitar and clapping seem to be the official accompaniment to this song by Labordeta, who, like many of his colleagues of the time, sang of the new state of freedom and called for forgiveness and an embrace of the new situation. - For Freedom: Serrat sets music to Miguel Hernández's poem, a piece that seems to have been written to fit perfectly with the era. The guitar arrangements and the Catalan's voice do the rest, turning this poem into a true anthem of the moment.
