Borja Montenegro: Virtuosity, Production, and the Tonal Excellence of the Alhambra 9P CW E8

Ever since I picked up the guitar at age 7, I have considered myself a musician. Born in Toledo, I have lived in Madrid all my life. My musical education began with private tutors before progressing to formal classical training at the conservatory.

Early Tours, Studio Sessions, and Music Production

By age 17, I was touring nationwide with my rock band Condena2, opening for Rosana across Spain and performing extensively on the national venue circuit. After releasing two records, I gained invaluable insight into the industry working alongside top-tier professionals.

Shortly after, acclaimed producer Javier Limón brought me on board to record session guitars and write musical arrangements for major Latin music icons such as Ana Belén, Sole Giménez, José Luis Perales, Ainhoa Arteta, and Lolita. By age 24, my focus expanded heavily into music production and studio direction.

Alongside session recording, I returned to arena tours with legendary Spanish artists (Perales, Ana Belén & Víctor Manuel, Sole Giménez, Manolo Tena, Luz Casal...), honing the craft of a touring guitarist. Currently, I am on the road as lead guitarist for Joaquín Sabina's international tour, Contra todo pronóstico.

Diciembre Estudios and Stage Gear: Alhambra 9P CW E8

In parallel, I developed my producer profile across various recording facilities, culminating in 2014 with the opening of my own production studio, Diciembre Estudios, where I handle most of my arranging and recording work.

For both live performances and studio sessions, I rely on industry-standard equipment. My main nylon-string instrument is the Alhambra 9P CW E8 concert guitar, a premium cutaway instrument engineered for acoustic projection, refined harmonic resonance, and pristine amplified sound, strung with Elixir Strings.
