"¦ Sometimes it is gratifying to appreciate a recording that takes you on a gentle ride rather than a tense one, and “Siempre Vivo!” is just that. As always the workmanship is impeccable, and the playability is effortless. Most importantly, (to my ears) it results in a classic “Spanish” sound, but with a quicker attack and response. His ability to create such dynamic guitars without the use of composite materials, is a testament to his talent. Not only does it have a powerful sound, but it has the color that so many composite double tops don’t have. I have been called Maestro by students and the public, and I am never comfortable with that title. I don’t think Mr. Mengual would be comfortable with that title, but it is the only word that comes to mind when I play these guitars, which were built by a “Master” Luthier.
