Ekannt Singh, a name synonymous with classical guitar in India, has been creating ripples in the global music scene with his exceptional talent and dedication. From his early days as a runner-up in the prestigious Goa International Guitar Festival organized by Guitar Guild Goa in 2006, Singh’s journey has been marked by a series of impressive milestones, including his recent endorsement as the Indian brand ambassador for Alhambra Guitars, Spain.
ACCOLADES AND PERFORMANCES
In 2009, Singh clinched the first prize at the National Classical Guitar Competition in Bangalore, a notable event organized by the Spanish Embassy. This victory was a stepping stone to his performance at the renowned Cordoba Guitar Festival in Spain in 2010, showcasing his talent on an international platform.
PAN-GLOBAL CONTRIBUTIONS
Singh’s expertise and artistry have been recognized globally. In 2015, he not only performed but also served as a jury member at The Thailand International Guitar Festival. His participation as both a performer and a judge has spanned numerous music festivals and concerts across Europe, India, and Southeast Asia, reflecting his influence and stature in the classical guitar community.
Beyond performances, Singh has played a pivotal role in music education and promotion.
As the former Joint Head of the Department (Western Section) at The Calcutta School of Music, he has nurtured many budding musicians.
His leadership extended to being the Director of the Calcutta International Classical Guitar Festival in 2010 and co-founding The Calcutta Classical Guitar Society, where he also served as president.

Singh’s versatility is evident from his contributions to several feature films, ad films, and documentaries. His work in the internationally acclaimed film "Phoring," which won the Vivel Filmfare Award for Best Background Score, stands out.
Other notable projects include "Nirbashito," "Jyesthoputro," and "Kanttho," showcasing his ability to blend classical guitar with cinematic narratives.

Singh's guitar transcriptions of popular Kishore Kumar songs like "Rimjhim Gire Sawan," "Neele Neele Ambar," and "Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas" have garnered significant attention on YouTube. He is currently working on transcriptions of Bengali and Hindi classics, including "Labonye Purno Prano" by Rabindranath Tagore and "Aha Ki Anondo Akashe Batase," promising to bring his unique style to these beloved songs.
UPCOMING VENTURES
Music lovers can look forward to Singh's upcoming video of "Sueño en la Floresta" by Latin American composer Agustin Barrios Mangoré, which translates as “Dreams in the Forest”. Shot in the jungles around Darjeeling, this project is set to offer a visually and musically captivating experience.
